Piles in medical terms also known as Hemorrhoids.  It is described as a condition with swollen blood vessels in the lower rectum. In some cases the swelling appears so that its walls become stretched, thin, and irritated by passing of stool or bowel movements.

Hemorrhoids are mainly classified into two general categories. Internal and external.

Internal hemorrhoids are mostly non painful and lie inside the rectum which is difficult to see with the naked eye or feel with hand.

External hemorrhoids located within the anus and are often uncomfortable. If an external hemorrhoids prolapse to the outside, it can be seen or felt. Blood clots sometimes form within prolapsed external hemorrhoids, causing an extremely painful condition called thrombosis.

Hemorrhoids are usually more common in elderly people and during pregnancy. Extreme abdominal pressure likely causes the vein to swell and become susceptible to irritation. The pressure can be caused by certain conditions like obesity, pregnancy, standing or sitting for long periods, straining or prolonged sitting during a bowel movement, coughing, sneezing, vomiting, and holding your breath while straining to do physical work and poor posture.

There are many hemorrhoid treatment options available in the home which is very effective to cure any stage of piles simply way with no other side effects. Here are some best home remedies given below –

1. Take Warm Baths

Soak your affected area in a bathtub filled with a few inches of warm water for about 15 minutes at a time. Do it two or three times a day and after every bowel movement. This procedure is very effective in reducing swelling, redness, and might help to reduce irritation also.

2. Aloe Vera 

Aloe Vera gel has been historically used to treat hemorrhoids and various skin conditions. It’s thought to have anti-inflammatory properties which might help to reduce irritation. You can apply the gel directly on the affected area which causes a contraction of the tissues that inhibit fluid discharge. Do this procedure twice daily for about 15-20 days for the best results.

3. Triphala Powder

This is very effective herbal remedies for piles.  The constipation condition is a major cause for piles, triphala powder must be taken regularly to remove constipation and hence prevent piles from developing. Take one teaspoon of triphala powder with Luke warm water every night before going to bed.

4. Castor Oil

Castor oil is proved to be the best home remedy for piles. It has wide-ranging properties like anti-oxidant, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. Hence castor oil has the power to decrease the size of the piles and reduce pain in the individual. For this, you can also mix a few drops of tea tree oil with a tablespoon of castor oil and a teaspoon of aloe vera. After mixing these ingredients well, use a cotton swab to apply it on your hemorrhoids directly.

5. Radish

Drinking radish juice twice daily is a common remedy for piles. Start with a 1/4th cup and gradually increase it to half a cup, drink it twice daily. Or 100mg of grated radish mixed with a teaspoon of honey may be taken twice daily in treating this condition. Radish helps in relieving the signs and symptoms regarding the piles.

6. Mustard Seeds

To seek relief from bleeding due to piles, powder a teaspoon of mustard seeds and mix it with half a cup of goat’s milk, adding a little sugar. Drink this early in the morning on an empty stomach.  This remedy is very effective in reducing redness, swelling, irritation, and other associated symptoms.

7. Asafetida

Asafetida is a very effective ayurvedic treatment for piles. It could be included in the vegetables on a day to day basis or dissolved in a glass of water and must be consumed daily.  It improves digestion and hence piles.

8. Buttermilk 

To reduce the pain felt due to piles, drink buttermilk to which rock salt, ginger, and peppercorns have been added. Have this wonderful remedy twice daily. It will help in proper digestion and prevent the formation of hard stool.

9. Banana 

To reduce the symptoms regarding the piles, mix one ripe mashed banana in a cup of milk. Have this remedy three times a day. It is a soothing and natural cure for piles thus reduces the pain, irritation, and helps in shrinkage of the hemorrhoids.

By the continuous use of these simple remedies, you can cure the mild to severe symptoms at home. These remedies can be easily available and hence no other side effects are seen.
