What is stress?

Stress is your body’s way of responding against predators and danger and is the body’s way of protecting you. When working properly, it will keep you stay focused, energetic, and alert. In emergencies, stress gives you extra strength to defend yourself, for example, spurring you to slam on the brakes to avoid a car accident. Keep yourself protected by recognizing the signs and symptoms of chronic stress and taking steps to reduce its harmful effects. Most people will refer to this as the fight-or-flight mechanism.

When an individual faces any stress then they have a partly physical response. The body produces chemicals such as cortisol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine that triggers the following physical reactions in the body:

  • Increased blood pressure
  • Heightened muscle preparedness
  • Sweating
  • Alertness
  • Faster heart rate

What are the causes of Stress?

According to the surveys, stress triggering factors are different in every individual. 40% of the people experiencing office stress and one-quarter say work is the biggest source of stress in their lives.

The main causes of work stress include:

  13. Divorce or getting married
  14. Increase in financial obligations
  15. Shifting to a new home
  16. Any chronic illness or injury

  19. Traumatic events like a natural disaster, rape, theft, or violence against you or your loved one

Cognitive symptoms like:

  • Memory problem
  • Unable to concentrate
  • Poor judgment
  • Negative thoughts
  • Anxious or racing thoughts
  • Constant worrying about everything
  • Emotional symptoms:
  • Depression and agitation
  • General unhappiness
  • Mood swings, irritability, or anger
  • Feeling overwhelmed

  • Other mental or emotional health problems

Physical symptoms:

  • Body pain
  • Sleeping Disturbances
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Nausea or dizziness
  • Chest pain
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Loss of sex drive
  • Frequent colds or flu
  • Behavioral symptoms:
  • Eating more or less or irregular eating habits
  • Procrastinating or neglecting responsibilities
  • Using too much alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs to relax
  • Nervous habits like nail-biting, pacing

4. Brain Relaxant Churna
