Abstract

Uric acid is one of the chemical compounds present in the body and is a natural waste product which is excreted from the body. These waste products are formed from the digestion of the purine rich food items. Purines are basically the molecules formed from the nitrogen as well as carbon atoms and are then broken down within the body. So, the excessive intake of foods rich in purine might lead to disturbance in the regular process resulting in the elimination of uric acid from the body. This is one of the main reasons for resulting in high levels of uric acid which is called hyperuricemia. So, it is very important to watch what foods you are taking in and through this article we are going to discuss some home remedies to balance uric acid in the body.

Some Healthy Tips

1. Limiting Foods that are Rich in Purine

Purines are the compounds that are naturally present in some of the foods. The body then breaks the purine down which then is produced into uric acid.  This slow metabolism results in gout and this causes the body from producing too much of uric acid. Some of the foods purine packed food sources are healthy but our main goal is to reduce intake or avoid them. Food items that you you should avoid are:-

  • Tuna, mussels, anchovies, sardines, herrings and trout
  • High-fat foods including red meat, bacon and milk products
  • Sugary foods as well as beverages
  • Foods that are moderate in purine include:-
  • Poultry
  • Lobster, oyster and shrimp
  • Ham and beef
  • Including Low Purine Foods

By including foods that are low in purine will naturally lower down the levels of uric acid or at least it wont increase the levels. Some of these food items include low-fat foods, peanut butter, bread, potatoes, whole-grain rice, coffee and vegetables.

2. Drink Plenty of water

As it is very important to stay hydrated which will help in clearing out the uric acid and this will also remove all the toxins from the body. It is important to drink 8 to 10 drinks everyday and it is very beneficial.

3. Avoid Beverages and Foods that are high on sugar

Sugar has the high potential in increasing the levels of uric acid in the body. Fructose is one of the compounds found in the fruit, honey or other sweeteners which in turn increases the metabolism of purine which leads to high uric acid.

4. Include Foods that are high in Fibre

As fibre rich foods are very helpful in improving the digestive issue and also balancing the insulin as well as blood sugar levels. They are very effective in maintain the levels of uric acid in the body
