What is Creatinine

Anatomy of Kidneys

Treatment of Kidney Failure

Meaning – In this verse, the synonyms and properties of Punarnava have been explained.

Punarnava is of two types – Red Punarnava and White Punarnava. Red Punarnava has various synonyms -Kathillaka, Shilatika, Shothaghni, Raktapunarnava, Raktapushpa, and Vashketu. It is bitter in taste with cool in potency and mainly enhances Vata dosha. It manages Kapha and Pitta dosha related diseases and blood impurities.

White Punarnava has synonyms like – Dhigrpatrika, Punarnava, Shvetmula and Shothaghni. It is astringent and bitter in taste and is useful in managing Vata and Kapha diseases and anemia. It is very helpful in reducing inflammation, removes toxins from the body, and helps in promoting digestive fire. 


Varun is very useful to keep our kidneys healthy, removes kidney stones and also very also useful in UTI infections. Gokshura acts as an anti-infective, is a good tonic for the urinary system and clears any obstruction in the urinary system. Palaash is very helpful in maintaining healthy liver functions and kidney functions help in controlling the blood sugar levels and is very useful to keep kidney healthy.
